Les Paul dies 94 – Rest in peace – You won’t be forgotten

Les Paul RIP
Today i heard the very sad news that Les Paul had died aged 94. Les Paul was a true music hero and contributed so much within his life time. For those of who don’t know Les Paul developed the solid body electric guitar, had a string of hits, was a accomplished jazz guitarist and developed multi track recording. Can you imagine what music would be like if electric guitars and multi track recording didn’t exist.
Les Paul stayed very active until he last days and performed every week at a New york jazz club in times square right up until months before his death. Last time i was in New York i wanted to see him play so badly but wasn’t allowed in (was under age). I knew then that it might have been my only chance and I’m truly gutted now. You might be thinking how is Les Paul is related to the subject of this blog. Well Les was a futurist, pioneer and pushed the boundaries with the guitar and multi track recording, pushing technology to the max at the time. Something most laptop performers and modern musicians are trying to do now.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends. Thank you Les for everything you have given to music, you will not be forgotten.
RIP
Zander
